About

I rather would have believed to take the veil or become a Pope, than becoming an artist. Just like Robbie Williams in his song "Feel" expresses it: "I sit and talk to God and He just laughs at my plans...".

So it took one year from getting my first painting equipment as a present, to the moment when I first took the brush in my hand. My respect for painting and art was tremendous. I had all the great artists in my mind, as well as all the other millions of talented amateurs which I would not come close in a million years. That's what I thought. I'm a perfectionist.

But then I threw away all my inner images, as well as my perfectionist and just did it. My biggest barrier was to dare to art*. Certainly I know, that my artistic technique is that of a child. But who cares ? I don't care ! I'm loving it !

This should encourage everyone. If I can do it, you can do it. Everyone is an artist, if he loves it. Didn't Matthew 18:3 tell us: "And He said: Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."? I know of course, that Jesus meant this otherwise. Anyhow, I feel free to apply it also to arting*Truly I tell you, unless you change and art* like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of art." For me, it's true.

Serendipitously we live at a time, when looking at contemporary art, it is not compulsory any more (as it was in earlier times) to dispose of master craftsmanship. So: Feel free to art* Being an artist means expressing myself, is the only way to enjoy jester's licence and be as free as possible in today's beautiful, but crazy world. Following "Seal" in his song "Crazy": We're never gonna survive, unless we are a little crazy.

Today many artists tend to an explosion of size of their artworks. Gigantism is in. The bigger, the better, the more expensive. Sometimes you get the impression, lack of originality is compensated by size.

This forces the art-observer to keep an ever growing distance to the artwork. Visual and financial. Additionally the pictures are hung up high. This forces the "small" human observer, to look up to the "Majesty, the Art(work)". In former days doors in palaces have been huge and door handles were mounted high, to give people the impression of being small - especially in comparison to the Majesty.

The sizes of my pictures are relatively small. Sometimes special effects can only be realized at short distance. This brings the observer (again) close to art.

Most of the artists use oil or acrylic paints. I prefer simple water colors, using cleaned and energized water. Water colors are so lively, they often show their own, incalculable patterns, their own "personality". Sometimes I have the feeling that "Life" arts with me, showing its special expression on my pictures. I love water colors.

At some issues I strongly feel, that it is not enough for me to work it out only in one color. I have to make the issue in different colors, mostly with additional variations. Only when I work it out that way, I feel that it is complete - complete like the whole spectrum of the colors of a rainbow.

I LOVE COLORS !

This gives the collector 2 opportunities. First: to choose the picture of his favorite color. The color, with which his heart is in resonance, suiting best to his personality. Everyone is different. Second: to chose a whole - complete - collection, hanging the complete collection or hang only one picture (changing every day, every week,...), according to mood or taste. A collection as a whole, in most cases, contains an additional keystone-effect, which makes the artwork complete.

Mostly I also love to use the "WIE", the "White Invisible Effect": I use white color on natural white paper to create "hidden" effects, "hidden" pictures, not realized at first sightThese effects and/or pictures are (mostly) only visible from a certain angle of view, when you change your perspective, your point of view. (Deutsch: "WIE" man das Bild betrtachtet.)

Additionally I often use shimmering silver & gold colors to give the artwork a special look-and-feel.

Both above mentioned effects can be marvelously seen at the original artwork, but unfortunately not or only hardly, at the online-photos here.

* "Arting" is my new word creation, of course just meaning: "making art".
